8M of Motivation Level

8M of Motivation Level
Is motivation factor relevant to agency force?

During my New-FPP class in year 2010, one of the participants quoted as saying James please give us more and powerful motivation so that I can go out to do sales or be a sales warrior”

Mind-boggling, this is how I educate them: Too Much of Motivations Kills’, just click video-link below to witness your self {:-)

Thereafter, I share with them about 8M of Motivation level !

First and foremost allow me to share with you on how it begins {;-)

During my early years (2006-2008) in Financial Planning, I am truly advocated to the concept of sales via Financial Planning (FP) approach.

Where learning the ‘technical aspect’ and presenting sales via ‘technical approach’ of FP will create a ‘wow’ factor that potential customers will trust you and buy from you.

At that time, I naively believe and was confident that ‘technical aspect’ promotes motivation to the agency force by acquiring the needed knowledge through Financial Planner Program (FPP). Moreover, FP became an ‘image-branding’ to a well educated agency force.

However in a ‘unpleasant’ moment of truth, I vividly recalled in year 2008 a leader commented in my class quoted as saying “an awesome training with power pack technical analysis but…..James, James, James….let me share with you that in sales, being too much is too good to be true”…......I was ‘amiably’ offended by her feedback at that time simply because the ‘painstaking work and number crunching presentation’ has come to vain.

Nevertheless, her feedback promoted me to a ‘paradigm shift’ in my thinking where progressively I reckon the fact that I need find a way to learn and understand agency force motivational behavior where obviously they are driven like many other entrepreneurs… “money money money” (by Abba) {;-)

Therefore since year 2008, I began to recollect and review my formal academic studies of ‘organization behavior’ to research the concept of motivation  beyond ‘technical and money aspect’ to realign with my training needs for New-FPP.

The entrenched motivation theories and concept as below has become my references;
  • Maslow's of Hierarchy of Needs
  • Frederick Herzberg of Two-Factor theory
  • Frederick Winslow Taylor of Scientific Management motivation model
  • Douglas McGregor's of theory X and theory Y
  • Victor Vroom's of Expectancy theory
  • David McClelland of Extrinsic/ Intrinsic motivation
  • Elton Mayo of Hawthorne Effect motivation model
  • Clayton Alderfer of ERG theory
  • Edward Deci and Richard Ryan of Self-Determination theory
  • Piers Steel and Cornelius Konig of Temporal Motivation Theory
  • Robbins and Judge of Five Principles motivation model

Together with external courses like Millionaire Mindset and Law of Attraction and combined sources from references like Napoleon Hill (Think and Grow Rich), Dr. David Schwartz (The Magic of Thinking Big) and Michael J Losier (Law of Attraction).

We amalgamate them and develop into an 8M of Motivation level.

The 8M of Motivation level consist of THREE distinguish levels namely;
  • Mental Level Motivation - MLM
  • Ideal Level Motivation   -  ILM
  • Action Level Motivation -  ALM

Sadly but truly, most motivational course cover only MLM & ILM and very bare minimum of ALM.

There could be a reason for it, where ‘short-sighted’ people prefer to see the ‘Big Picture’ instead of ‘Big Action’ where short-term courses are meant for ‘realignment’ to ensure ‘their mind and business is on track’ due to misalignment, following their unpleasant external challenges.

Observably, MLM & ILM alone are not sustainable, its teachings are ‘fragile by nature’. It is ‘momentary’ and do not promote and build ‘habit of actions’.

Why this happened?

Well MLM tends to teach topics like ‘Motive & Meaning’ while ILM basically is about ‘Modeling’. It is not ‘solid’ and ‘ill by design’ for enduring long term challenges. In summary, it is an ‘Unsustainable’ motivational model.

Both MLM and ILM are very much of Parallel in Thinking with Parallax in Viewpoint. It is a ‘Metaphor’ (concept of understanding one thing in terms of another). ‘It is just like moving away a stumbling block and open to you a renewed hope via new thinking following a renewed viewpoint of seeing things”.

In conclusion, MLM and ILM alone are not sufficient. Both will be exhausted due to ‘wear and tear’.

As famous quotes in respect of ‘Actions Speak Louder then Words’ are as below (http://www.quotegarden.com/action.html)
  • Well done is better than well said. (Benjamin Franklin)
  • Don't find fault.  Find a remedy.(Henry Ford)
  • Action is eloquence.(William Shakespeare)
  • Small deeds done are better than great deeds planned.(Peter Marshall)
  • An idea not coupled with action will never get any bigger than the brain cell it occupied. (Arnold Glasow)
  • We should be taught not to wait for inspiration to start a thing.  Action always generates inspiration.  Inspiration seldom generates action.(Frank Tibolt)
  • Action is the antidote to despair.(Joan Baez)
  • Success will never be a big step in the future, success is a small step taken just now.(Jonatan MÃ¥rtensson)

The above quotes is what ALM is about; it is ‘fundamentally’ concerning action that drives motivations

ALM is far more ‘Resilient’ to endure the long term challenges. They promote Architectural Dimensions with Paradoxical Engagement. "It is just like building a new structure of execution habits/practices that one way and another contradict to your norms or customs in practice”.

MedicineNet : Lung Cancer

Lung Cancer http://www.medicinenet.com What is lung cancer? Cancer of the lung, like all cancers, results from an abnormality in the body's basic unit of life, the cell. Normally, the body maintains a system of checks and balances on cell growth so that cells divide to produce new cells only when new cells are needed. Disruption of this system of checks and balances on cell growth results in an uncontrolled division and proliferation of cells that eventually forms a mass known as a tumor. Tumors can be benign or malignant ; when we speak of "cancer," we are referring to those tumors that are malignant. Benign tumors usually can be removed and do not spread to other parts of the body. Malignant tumors , on the other hand, grow aggressively and invade other tissues of the body, allowing entry of tumor cells into the bloodstream or lymphatic system and then to other sites in the body. This process of spread is termed metastasis ; the areas of tum...
