Getting to know FPP-Forward

Great to meet you here {;-), this site will offer u an insight of the four evolution phases of Financial Planners’ Programme (FPP) in American International Assurance (AIA) Malaysia Berhad

Phase-1: Financial Planning Department: FPD (year 1997)

In 1997, AIA formed the Financial Planning Department (FPD) that specializes in Personal Financial Planning (PFP) program. The establishment of FPD is a crucial milestone to AIA Malaysia to augment its agency force with need base selling through PFP as the future phase of sustaining its competitiveness.

Being a forth-front insurance company in Malaysia, AIA recognized the need for agency network to embrace financial planning. Therefore, the FPD was set-up to provide training in PFP both in theory and application to the agency force and ultimately converting them into Financial Consultant.

With such ambitions in mind, in 1997 AIA brought in a financial planning program from United States through Vernom Publishing that embraces theory cum applications. The imported program known as Financial Planners’ Programme (FPP) encompasses Financial Need Analysis (FNA) and Financial Planning Seminar (FPS).

The FNA is a 5-step needs-driven sales system that is extensively field-tested and is a proven system that was pioneered by Mr Thomas J. Wolff (Tom Wolff). It is designed to prepare practitioner with an effective and systematic approach to financial planning. The FNA is an intermediate program and was designed for the retail market with analysis of “Protection”, “Education” and “ Retirement “.

In the advance level, the FPS is structured and designed to penetrate the business section of the market ranging from proprietors, partnerships and shareholders. This seminar trains the agency force the practical approach to  “Business Insurance Planning “,”Estate Planning “ and “Tax Planning”

Phase-2: Financial Planners’ Programme (FPP) in action: (from year 1997 to 2008)

In July 1997, Mr. Kevin Holmgren from US was engaged to head the FPD as Assistant Vice President (AVP). He is a successful agency leader back in United States, a highly charismatic leader with strong passion and visionary for Personal Financial Planning (PFP) services.

In launching the FPP, the FPD had organized a meeting with the core group of 20 to 30 leaders from respective regions to identify 2 to 3 agents that meets the minimum qualification to participate the FPP.

In additions, a recruitment specialist was formed to organize a monthly Career Orientation Program (COP) and the very first COP was initiated in University of Malaya in year 1997.

In September 1997, the FPD recruited the first intake of FNA, which was then tutored by Mr. Kevin while Arthur Anderson’s consultants were engaged to lecture the FPS.

From 1997 to 2009, FPD had trained and developed as many as 2000 FPs via FPP and finally in the mid of year 2009, FPP has come to the end for new beginning.

Phase-3: New Beginning for Financial Planners’ Programme (FPP): Transformation (Year 2009/2010)

In mid year of 2009, the new beginning for FPP emerge where ‘CHANGES’ has taken place where existing FPP begin to lose its edge due to ‘aging process’ of change in environment.

Being a forth-front insurance company in Malaysia, AIA recognized the need for change. With moving forward mindset, existing FPP has ‘TRANFORM’ into New-FPP.

From July to October 2009, we conducted numerous studies, surveys, interviews and collecting opinions and suggestions from MDRT qualifiers and Million Dollar Agencies (MDA). Equally , external courses like Millionaire Mindset and Law of Attractions and combine sources from references like Napoleon Hill (Think and Grow Rich), Dale Carnegie (How to Win Friends and Influence People), Stephen R. Covey (The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People), Dr. David Schwartz (The Magic of Thinking Big) and Michael J Losier (Law of Attraction) had become the backbone during the process to ‘revamp’ the existing FPP to make it more ‘relevant’ and ‘align’ with corporate goal and strategy.

From November 2009 to January 2010, we began to commence dry-run of New-FPP for 5 specific agencies grouping for feedback and review.

Finally, in March 2010, we launched a New-FPP preview to prepare for the 1st intake in central region in the following month. By September 2010 we had conducted New-FPP in northern, southern and east Malaysia with strong commitment and support from DOAs that allows us to demonstrate ‘The Power of WE’.

Phase-4: New Financial Planners’ Programme (FPP): Beyond 2010

In September 2010, we began to develop FPP-Forward blog to serve as a platform for FPP-Fellowship to contribute their views, comments, suggestions and opinions to facilitate the continuous improvement in New-FPP.

Finally, on October 10th, 2010, we officially launched FPP-Forward blog to AIA agency force with a tag-line known as FPP-Forward B'ON 10-10-10.

MedicineNet : Lung Cancer

Lung Cancer http://www.medicinenet.com What is lung cancer? Cancer of the lung, like all cancers, results from an abnormality in the body's basic unit of life, the cell. Normally, the body maintains a system of checks and balances on cell growth so that cells divide to produce new cells only when new cells are needed. Disruption of this system of checks and balances on cell growth results in an uncontrolled division and proliferation of cells that eventually forms a mass known as a tumor. Tumors can be benign or malignant ; when we speak of "cancer," we are referring to those tumors that are malignant. Benign tumors usually can be removed and do not spread to other parts of the body. Malignant tumors , on the other hand, grow aggressively and invade other tissues of the body, allowing entry of tumor cells into the bloodstream or lymphatic system and then to other sites in the body. This process of spread is termed metastasis ; the areas of tum...
